What the checker looks for

  • Clarity: can the recipient understand why you are writing?
  • Accountability: do you own your part without making excuses their problem?
  • Boundary awareness: does the message respect their choices and any stated limits?
  • Pressure: does it make them feel responsible for replying, reassuring, forgiving, or returning?

The checker is an editing tool, not a clinical assessment and not permission to contact someone.

Before you press send

A message can be sincere and still put pressure on someone.

Kildr's checker is designed for difficult messages such as apologies, closure, reconnection, breakups, friendship conflicts and important practical communication. It focuses on the message itself, not on diagnosing either person.

Does my message sound desperate?

Repeated pleas, demands for reassurance, urgency without a practical reason, and making your wellbeing depend on their answer can all increase pressure. The goal is not to sound detached, but to leave them free.

What makes a good apology?

Name what you did, acknowledge the impact without inventing their feelings, avoid burying responsibility under explanations, and do not make forgiveness the price of hearing the apology.

When should I not send?

Do not use a rewritten message to work around a restraining order, no-contact instruction, explicit safety boundary, or repeated request to stop. Better wording does not create permission.
