Write from facts rather than momentum
Pause long enough to remove accusations, assumptions, and details that belong to someone else. For a message about how to send family a clear caregiving update, use this factual base: separate symptoms, diagnoses, medication, dates, and clinician advice from assumptions or internet research.
Offer a proportionate next step
Match the size of the request to the relationship and to what the recipient can reasonably decide now. Ask for the record, appointment, review, accommodation, or care decision through the correct channel. Make the immediate next step clear enough that the recipient can answer without reconstructing the entire history.
Protect privacy on both sides
Do not share another person's medical information or treat a message as a substitute for clinical advice. Contact local emergency or urgent medical services for severe, worsening, or immediately dangerous symptoms. Use the most private legitimate channel available and do not share the exchange to recruit support or pressure.
