Choose the right purpose for the message
Decide whether the message is meant to inform, apologize, ask, support, or close a practical loop. For a message about how to decline unpaid creative work, use this factual base: identify the brief, deliverable, rights, fee, revision history, and contract term that applies.
Use detail that helps a decision
Include the smallest set of details that lets the recipient understand the impact and choose a response. State what you can deliver next, what approval or payment is required, and when the offer expires. Make the immediate next step clear enough that the recipient can answer without reconstructing the entire history.
Know what the message cannot achieve
Do not release rights or final files beyond the agreement, and do not shame a client publicly. Use platform support, legal advice, or a formal takedown process for fraud, infringement, threats, or identity misuse. The message can offer clarity, but it cannot guarantee forgiveness, agreement, attention, or renewed contact.
